The Spiritual Director of Tibet House: His Eminence Loden Sherab Dagyab Kyabgoen Rinpoche S.E. Dagyab RinpocheHis Eminence Loden Sherab Dagyab Kyabgoen Rinpoche is the originator of the Tibet House project. He came to Germany in 1966 in response to an invitation from Bonn University to work as a Tibetologist at its Institute for Central Asian Studies. In the 1980s, due to the explicit request of people interested in Buddhism he began to be active as a spiritual teacher for Europeans. The Buddhist community Choedzong e.V. came into being as a result of this collaboration and together with Rinpoche founded Tibet House.
Rinpoche was born in East Tibet in 1940 and at age four he was recognized as the IX.Kyabgoen (protector) of the region of Dagyab. He is one of the highest spiritual figures in Tibet and is therefore closely connected to H.H. the XIV. Dalai Lama. In 1959 Rinpoche escaped with His Holiness to India. From 1964 to 1966 he directed the Tibet House in New Delhi, which is an internationally recognized center for the preservation and support of the Tibetan culture.
For more than 40 years Rinpoche has lived with his family near Bonn. A list of his publications -- academic works about Tibetan Buddhist art, iconography and symbolism, translations of religious texts from Tibetan into German, introductory explanations for western Buddhists -- can be downloaded as PDF files here.
The "Yellow Brochure" by Dagyab Rinpoche with the title ‘ "Ein guter Mensch sein” Einige grundsätzliche Gedanken über menschliche Kommunikation.’ (How to be a good human being. A few fundamental thoughts about human communication), can be downloaded here for free.
Tibet - Mongolia Treaty of 1913, a proof of Tibet’s independence: Interview
Phayul[Wednesday, November 12, 2008 17:52]
“The treaty (Tibet Mongolia Treaty of 1913) begins with Tibet and Mongolia attesting to their having emerged from under Manchu domination and constituted themselves as independent states.”
The original Tibetan text of the “Tibeto-Mongol Treaty of 1913” was rediscovered in Mongolia (presumably in the state archives), with copies beginning to circulate only in 2007. Prof. Elliot Sperling says the delicate political situation of Mongolia, for most of the 20th century, could have played a role in keeping the original version of the treaty inaccessible before that.
